About Rammang-Rammang

The geographical position of Indonesia is profitable from the natural conditions such as mountains, highland to beach which are spread in almost every area in Indonesia. This time came from the Rammang-Rammang which is known to offer extraordinary beautiful view.

Rammang-Rammang tourist attractions are areas of limestone mountains. The huge karst mountains very wonderful, complemented by the river and surrounding rice fields. Rammang-Rammang is located in the village of Salenrang, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi, about 40 km north of Makassar City.

The name of Rammang-Rammang comes from the Makassar language, which is a colony of clouds or fog. Seen from Rammang-Rammang condition which is always foggy every morning. The local people said, centuries ago, Maros was an ocean. Karst hills are coral. Somehow the sea water receded, leaving a large coral that became a hill. Karst scraps seen along the river to Rammang Rammang.

Rammang-Rammang Maros formed from 30 million years ago. But it is estimated that this area is only occupied by humans 40 thousand years ago. Human footprints in the past can still be enjoyed by tourist through handwriting or symbols on the mountain wall.

In the Karst area of Rammang-Rammang there are several tourist destinations that we can visit. We have to go along the Pute River flow. Because this river will be the main road that takes us to destinations in the Rammang-Rammang Karst.

The mountains karst that surrounds this area on both the land side and the river make the views of Rammang-Rammang look so beautiful and exotic.
